It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Snowflakes.
Yeah, I know it was a flurry, if that, but it's the first snow I've seen that wasn't on TV in the midwest this winter. I had a chuckle to myself as I recalled that the tagline for the Happy Hour was "No snow? No problem." We were off to a good start. About an hour later I arrived at Porter's. I made my way through the crowd and to the stairs, heading up to the 2nd level and hoping it wasn't shoulder-to-shoulder. I emerged from the stairwell and saw a floor less than half full. I nabbed a $2 Miller Lite (important to note) and took up a position by the door. Bloggers began to arrive not long after that. What would follow was one of the smaller more laid-back happy hours than we've had in a while, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't just as enjoyable than your usual Happy Hour events. Of note:
- Evidently I get quite excited when talking about 24, and this was 3 nights after the 4-hour premier ended. Imagine what it's like for my roommates.
- There were Miller Lite girls wandering about and giving out raffle tickets for a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert at The Phone Booth next week. If you had a Miller Lite, you got a ticket free. Since the Miller Lites were $2, I was drinking them freely and bloggers were accruing tickets left and right. By the time of the raffle, I had both my ticket and DC Concierge's, but nary a blogger had the winning ticket. The Concierge tells me that tickets are $70 (plus service charges). Not a bad bargain for a $2 beer.
- One of the oft-mentioned topics was The Not Girls Charity Auction, as both LMNt and I were involved and inquiring minds wanted to know how things were going. I can tell you that neither of us have been on our dates, but personally that's all I'll offer at this juncture (pending the approval of all interested parties - you know the drill).
- I can neither confirm nor deny that I was able to keep my promise of taking plenty of pictures because the batteries in my camera died.
- I can also neither confirm nor deny that I can re-enacted nearly the entire Robot Chicken Star Wars bit (see below). "You must smell like feet wrapped in leathery, burnt bacon..."
January's about 2/3 over, and I'm already looking towards February. With an inter-blog collaboration coming up next month, I can promise you that big things are coming in the very near future. I hope you're ready.
