They're baaaaack

While I'm actively trying to figure out what Yahoo! is smoking, because somehow they've determined that these three shows would attract the same audience...

...I've decided to initiate the end to the long absence of I-66 Points. Happy hour on Friday, bloglings.

Artist and title for the [points]. The wrinkle here is that these songs came up sequentially on my iPod, so points have been assigned accordingly. You know the drill. No cheating.

This will be the final installment of the points today.

I set the scene, you finish the movie quote.

1) Clear and Present Danger
The President: "You'll take the blame. Cutter and Ritter will take some too, but it won't amount to much. They'll get a slap on the wrist and $20,000 an hour on the lecture circuit. The rest, you'll dump on Greer. Yes, you'll take him down with you. You'll destroy his reputation. But it won't go any further than that. It's the ol' Potomac two-step, Jack."

Riddle me this

Now that the actors/movie points are wrapped, it's time for something a little more fun. The first 3 people to answer this correctly get 3 points. GO!

As I was going to St. Ives
I met a man with seven wives
And every wife had seven sacks
And every sack had seven cats
And every cat had seven kits
Kits, cats, sacks, wives
How many were going to St Ives?

24 Review, and unrelated I-66 Points

If you're not a 24 watcher, or if you are waiting to see it on tivo, you probably won't want to read this but please skip past the blue portion of this for some I-66 points.

With the exception of the pretty cool capture of Boris The Bullet Dodger (aka: Gredenko), last night's episode of 24 was fairly tame, no?

Nadia was acquitted of course, but I have a problem with how she was thought to be guilty in the first place. what we were told is that through that little piece of equipment attached to a laptop, someone was allowed to access CTU info because Nadia had been monitoring some terrorist website? I'm simplifying it here, obviously, but only slightly. Seems to me that with all the security in place at CTU that something like that would be impossible.

For once, Sandra Palmer actually opened her mouth without me wanting to shout things at the screen usually reserved for Audrey. So she's somewhat in my good graces for deciding to try to wake Wayne Palmer, who put the brakes on the positively looney VP's plans. How 'bout the VP, almost breaking down before our eyes saying he can't let him stay in power, almost as if he was thinking out loud in front of the entire cabinet.

Speaking of Wayne, I saw an old CSI episode recently where he (DB Woodside) played a convicted sex offender who was living in public but suspected of kidnapping/assaulting/murdering a young girl. The catch, of course, is that his character likes boys. And he also likes stroking it with a pair of boys briefs in his hand while looking at pictures of fully clothed boys he takes with his cell phone while jogging. I wish I was kidding. I mention this because if a convicted sex offender can become President, well... anything's possible. And I didn't even mention Pedro Cerrano from the Major League movies became President and now appears in Allstate commercials. Back to the episode...

Silver Spoons (that's Doyle, as in Ricky Schroeder) almost is made to look more of a douche than he already does, but he eventually turns in the offending piece of computer technology to Morris for authenticity, all while Milo is made to look like a jackass for confronting him about hiding evidence. And seriously, yeah Milo got shot and everything, but that was the most feeble attempt at physical violence that I've ever seen. I won't even go into the horrible kiss scene between he and Nadia. That hurt to watch.

So Gredenko probably negotiates some sort of amnesty next week, and I'd bet either he and Fayed both get away, or just Fayed as CTU closes in on them. Palmer's back in control, but the psycho VP isn't going without a fight.

Lyrics. Artist and title for the [points]. No cheating, as usual.

1) So here we are, just me and you
Thinking of the things that we used to do
[3]

2) She hates her life, she hates her skin, she even hates her friends
Tries to hold on to all the reputations she can't mend
[3]

3) You can shake me for a while, live it up in style
No matter what you do I'm gonna take you down
[4]

4) Every single day what you say makes no sense to me
Letting you inside isn't right, you'll mess with me
[3]

5) A heapin' helpin' of fried chicken, macaroni and cheese
And collard greens, too big for my jeans

I-66 Points as promised

As promised, this is your chance to earn some I-66 points. In the meantime, I'm sending a petition to see footage of the Audrey Rains autopsy, just to make sure she's dead.

I give you the movie quote, you give me the movie and the character. No internet cheating allowed! Annnnd... go!

1) "Why? Why - Oh I don't know, 'cause I wanted to redecorate. You know, a couple of throw pillows, a TV news reporter, what do ya think?" [5]

2) "If you hold back anything, I'll kill ya. If you bend the truth, or I think your bending the truth, I'll kill ya. If you forget anything I'll kill ya. In fact, you're gonna have to work very hard to stay alive, Nick. Now do you understand everything I've said? Because if you don't, I'll kill ya." [3]

3) "Are you driving with your eyes open? Or you like using 'the force'?" [3]

4) "All I ask is that you keep up with me. If you can't, then that strange sensation you'll be feeling in the seat of your pants will be my boot in your ass!" [4]

5) "Let's open up a can of kick ass and kill 'em all. Let the paramedics sort 'em out." [4]

I-66 Points and fortune cookie redux

I know I promised I-66 Points today, but before we get to that I have something else to rail against.

At last check, the fortune cookie was worsening before our very eyes. I've been following this for some time now, and today I reached what may be the pinnacle of fortune cookie suckitude.
Fortune cookie reminds you: You are only as old as you act.

I spent a good 5 minutes trying to figure out what the equivalent to this is in every day life, and I determined it's something like a surgeon trying to sell you on some stocks while you're on the operating bed, or a cab driver offering you a haircut when you get into his car.

Look, fortune cookie, I don't need you to remind me of anything. I need you to give me my fortune, maybe some lucky numbers and a smiley face or two, and nothing else. Why can't we go back to the days when you were telling me I was doomed to be happy in wedlock. As catch-22 as it is, that right there is a fortune. None of this reminder crap anymore, alright?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Now, as for the points, I give you lyrics and you give me artist and title for the [points]. No cheating, as usual.

1) Every man wanna act like he's exempt
Need to get down on his knees and repent
[4]

2) Take the time to get to know me
If you want me why can't you just show me
[3]

3) Cry if you want to cry if it helps you see
If it clears your eyes
[3]

4) The night is young and full of possibilities
Well come on and let yourself be free

Throwing you a bone

Okay so I'll throw a few I-66 points out there just because. Back in October, mysterygirl! upped her cool quotient (I mean, not that it wasn't high already) by reciting the final verse of Monkey Wrench by Foo Fighters (one of I-66's favorite bands) and earning points in the process.

Today, 4 I-66 points go to the person who can correctly recite the last verse of Hook by Blues Traveller. No interneting lyrics, people.

...annnd Sparkles Anon. takes the points.

Ex-squeeze me, a Bacon number?

It's 3:01pm and the results of the Kevin Bacon game are in. The I-66 points winners are...

JordanBaker: 6
EJTakesLife: 6
WiB: 6

Oooh... 6 6 6. Evidently Kevin Bacon and Lucifer have a Bacon number of 1... that 1 being this blog.

Edit: I neglected to observe the difference in minutes between I-66 time, Blogger time, and real time and Mandy is in under the wire with 6 points of her own. I don't know if 6 6 6 6 is significant in any way, but I'm thinking of playing Pick 4 tonight.
